Silence in a pediatric clinic is not often heard. Days in healthcare, small business, and pediatrics (whether all working in tandem or individually) are bursting with noise in some capacity, always filling the empty spaces. In our case, our quiet moments settle the room just as the clock strikes 8. The blinds are freshly open, the air in the waiting room is circulating as it buzzes for a new day of treatments, and the lamps fill the room with a warm light to ease us into the morning. Like an alert, the doorbell sounds. Once our first family enters the building until the moment our staff sets the alarm to leave at the end of the night, any other moment of silence becomes suspicious; it’s unusual and often concerning.
Sometimes, however, you will stumble on a subjective hush mid-day. It’s the kind of silence that, when it fills the room, makes you want to whisper in the halls in fear that if you mention the quiet, it will no longer be. A pensive look on the face of an admin running numbers. The onlooking of a therapist while a client practices writing their name. The mental calculation following a PT telling their client “you can do it, try again,” leaping from one steppingstone to the next. While we thrive as a business on communication and discussion, it seemed that the greatest growth this year came from the in-between moments of assessment and reflection. In these moments – these peculiar and bizarre moments - is where we have found expansion.
We are incredibly grateful that we have experienced the amount of growth we have in the past year. As we approach our 5-year anniversary of being a business, it is not lost on us that this type of growth does not happen often, especially in the healthcare climate. Ms. Megan has worked incredibly hard to not only create, but foster, a team of strong-willed, intentional, dedicated professionals all working towards their own versions of success that, somehow, all intersect at Lively Therapy Services. As the year comes to a close, we are thankful to have time to reflect on how the drive from our team, the trust from our clients, and the commitments made by us and for us have shaped how our company will progress going forward.
As 2026 starts to appear on the horizon, it is important to us that we express our endless gratitude for our clients, our therapists, our adjacent healthcare professionals, and those that allow us to have those quiet moments of reflection in between the craziness. Our growth would not have been as substantial as it was without you.
From the staff, we want to thank Megan, as well, for her continued trust and belief in her team. All of our roles have transformed drastically this year, yours included, and the growing pains were rewarding, even if terribly obvious at times. We are so thankful to have someone so dedicated leading us, sharing ideas with us, advocating with and for us, and supporting us both personally and professionally. Your recognition as innovative leader by the NCOTA was a true testament of the changes you are making in the industry, and we are in awe that we get front row seats to those changes. We love you!
